DESCRIPTION Students will learn about the American Revolution. Students will sew a replica of an American flag from 1776, and a quilt that will depict the hardships the colonists endured in that era of our nation’s past. A lesson on the Boston Tea Party and taxation without representation will be part of the lesson. Students will also act out several skits using puppets of Patrick Henry, Paul Revere, and the female colonist who wanted to join the Continental Army but was denied because of her gender. Each student will then use their artistic abilities to paint a replica of a colonial teapot. Students will learn the value of money in the 1700s and make the correlation between the sales taxes imposed in colonial times and the taxes that are imposed today.
