Texas Afterschool Centers on Education™ (ACE), administered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and funded by the 21st CCLC Program administered by the US Department of Education, is a structured, safe, and supervised place for learning and social interaction.
ACE provides extended learning opportunities for children and their families and offers innovative, hands-on activities that reinforce and complement students’ regular academic programs. These before and afterschool activities are based on research and best practices and include academic enrichment, challenging curriculum, and tutorial services.
ACE strives to increase promotion and graduation rates and helps students prepare for college and the workplace.

Program Evaluation:
The Texas 21st Century Community Learning Centers Evaluation 2007-08 was released in August 2009. The purpose of this report was to provide a comprehensive description of the implementation and impact of the 21st CCLC program in Texas during the 2007-08 academic year, to examine the impact of program participation on student outcomes, and to investigate possible mediating, moderating, or other explanatory variables associated with successful programs.

The Texas 21st Century Community Learning Centers Annual Report 2006-07 was released in March 2008. This report evaluated the impact ACE (formerly known as 21st CCLC) participation had on student achievement and investigated possible mediating, moderating, or other explanatory variables associated with successful programs.
The study concluded that cumulative participation in subject-specific ACE activities tended to have a positive effect on TAKS achievement in reading and mathematics.
